Mar Evers has livingin the West all of her life has ingrained a love of the outdoors. It was a natural step to bring the outdoors inside in her paintings.  Many works are taken from on site studies during backpack and hiking trips. Wild and craggy mountain peaks, the vastness of the desert, the intimate aspen grove, or wind beaten pines are all of special interest.

Water in all it’s moods is a favorite theme. Wildlife, horses and people find their way in to her paintings in their role of the overall western experience.  Her overall goal is to produce an image the people can find new enjoyment in everyday.

Art is a life long challenge, every subject  brings you a new learning curve.  So, as with all endeavors, continuing education is a must.  Studying  the masters of the past  to present day leaders in the world of art both nationally and regionally.

Special guidance has come from a variety  of artists with different styles and approaches to creating a work of art. Some of her favorites are Scott Christensen who is a walking text book.  California artist Ted Goerschner presenting his direct painting technique ,  cowboy artist Jim Ray of was a very gentle  mentor for a year or so.  Steven Day of Taos, NM is  fun and great instructor. Carole Cooke has great classes and always makes time.

She is a member of the Plein Aire Painters of the Four Corners, painting from the California coast to the Rockies.  She has been invited to the Quick Draw at the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival Invitational for the last 12 years. The Quick Draw is fun to watch for the spectators but nerve racking for most of the artists.  30 or more artists create  paintings and even sculptures in 90 minutes. The auction starts immediately following with usually about 400 - 500 other art lovers.
